MRW I take medication and realize I didn’t look at the expiration date

Crank it up!

Eh you’ll be fine, the only thing that happens to medication is that it looses it’s potency over time.

the efficacy of drug deteriorate as it expires. Worse comes to worst, your allergy won’t get treated by the medicine. Don’t worry anything beyond that

Or you get superpowers.

I had a bottle of vitamins that were expired by probably five years. I don’t know exactly what made the coat on them turn partly black, but I decided I wasn’t going to finish them.

You knock out for a few hours. Worst case you end up in the 4th dimension.

You say that, but I think some stuff (vitamins) I had once actually had mildew(?) of some kind growing in the gelatin, and it was black-spotted, pore-surfaced, dry, and highly suspect. I had a couple, but then decided I didn’t want to experiment with their potency anymore.

Yeah vitamins are a whole different ball game though, not nearly as heavily regulated as medication is. The mildew was probably more a case of improper storage than anything else.
I’ve worked in the pharma industry as well as most of my family working for various pharma companies (Pfizer, Glaxosmithkline, Novartis, Shire, Johnson and Johnson) and the expiration date is more a date that the manufacturer can still guarantee full potency of the drug. Hell some drugs are still effective 15 years after their expiration date. The only stuff you really need to worry about is stuff like nitroglycerin, insulin, and liquid antibiotics.

A friend of my dad’s used to work for Glaxo in the 90s in NC, so we may even now have some pens and things around. We used to get them all the time. Funny story, I draw up ducting layouts and conditioner parts for stability room and test chamber applications, so my place of business has done business -within the past six years - with all of those except Shire. I’ve drawn up some things for Pfizer international and J&J myself. Setups to do exactly the long term stability tests that are in question.

Funny thing, those pens and stuff that they used to give doctors are now illegal gifts. You can no longer take doctors out to dinner, give them any branded chachkies ect...

I’m dead 100% sure that Zoloft pens are a deadly risk and worth regulatory oversight. Totes.
